About the role
As a Senior Unity Game Developer, you'll own major parts of our gameplay codebase — from core mechanics and player feel through to tooling and pipeline work that lets the rest of the team build on top. You'll work alongside a small, senior team where engineering decisions move quickly and your fingerprints are everywhere in the final product.
This is a hands-on role focused on gameplay rather than deep systems work. You'll write production code, profile it, break it, and rebuild it. You'll also shape the architecture as we grow.
What you'll do
- Design and implement gameplay features and mechanics in Unity using C#.
- Work across the full Unity pipeline — scripting, external tools, models, textures and everything in between.
- Build and polish particle effects using Unity's particle tools to bring gameplay moments to life.
- Collaborate closely with design, art and the rest of the team to shape how our games feel to play.
- Contribute to game design and help translate ideas into shippable features.
- Build internal tools and workflows that unlock the rest of the team.
We'd love to see
- 5+ years of production Unity experience, either as a solo developer with shipped titles or as part of a team.
- Deep proficiency across the Unity stack — scripting, editor tooling, assets, and pipeline work.
- Strong command of Unity's particle effects tools (Shuriken and/or VFX Graph).
- A real feel for game design — prototyping mechanics, iterating on feel, and having opinions about what makes a moment land.
- Comfort contributing to game design documentation and shaping ideas alongside designers.
- Strong command of Git and modern source-control workflows.
- A focus on gameplay and player feel rather than low-level systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- A portfolio, shipped title or repo you can walk us through.
Nice to have
- Based in Cornwall (we're fully remote, but it's a lovely bonus).
- Contributions to open-source Unity tools, assets or plugins.
How we work
We're a fully remote UK-based studio, and we operate in UK-friendly hours. The team is small and senior by design — you'll have autonomy, context and a direct line to the people making product calls. We value careful, deliberate work over heroics, and we protect focus time fiercely.
How to apply
Send a CV, a short note on why this role and a link to something you've built to jobs@trueplayers.co.uk. If you've got a personal site, a GitHub, a reel or a design doc — send that too. We read every application.
